Props to the eagle-eyed - 'I need more time to manage my multiple to-do lists' - Neil Kurz for spotting a recent written Parliamentary answer to MP, Mr Prisk, who asked Housing Minister, Caroline Flint, for an estimate on how many Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) would be qualified by 1st April 2008.

She went one better and revealed an exact figure: 7,304 accredited DEAs.

Mr. Prisk: To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many inspectors she estimates will be qualified to assess a property for an energy performance certificate by 1 April 2008.

Caroline Flint: As at 1 April we had 7,304 assessors accredited to provide energy performance certificates.

The figure represents an increase of 203 DEAs since the last DEA numbers update of 6th Mar 2008, when there were 7,101 accredited assessors out of a total number of 11,426 in the system.

So, at minimum, we can either conclude there are at least 11,629 people in the system today, or the additional 203 DEAs have simply evolved from the May figure of 11,426 to become accredited.

I would like to know how much energy 8000 certificates would generate heat in a incinerator, as that's as much use they are
