VAV - Variable Air Volume
Air conditioning systems will have to achieve the same specific fan power at 25% flow as at 100% (for motors consuming more than 1.1 kW) . This will mean that only systems employing variable speed drives (VSDs) – also known as inverters – will satisfy the new standards. It is estimated this will save at least 40% of the power previously required to run the fans at varying loads.
VSD - Variable Speed Drives (See VAV (above))
