Home Information Pack Update

Submitted by: MikeC (Admin) on 24-Jul-07 04:57:04 PM

The Communities & Local Government (CLG) has just published its latest Home Information Pack Update (Issue 17).

A headline that many DEAs have been waiting (too long) for, is the approved list of successful bids tendered by Registered Social Landlords (RSL) and Local Authorities (LAs).

With the housing market close to entering its traditional quiet period; interest rates rising; thousands of homes affected by flooding; and only 18% of the housing stock required to have a Home Information Pack (HIP) by law on August 1st 2007, this list should provide the hope of additional work in the interim period leading up to full HIP implementation.

Successful bidders will now move forward with their plans and we expect most EPCs to be undertaken over the summer. LAs and RSLs will now be contracting directly with energy assessors or Panels for the pilot projects.

If you are a Domestic Energy Assessor or Home Inspector looking for work, we suggest you contact successful LAs/RSLs or their EPC providers.

RICS HIPs Redress Scheme

The timing of this caught my eye - What, with August 1st just a week away now...

On a past podcast, I mentioned the possibility that one of the reasons the RICs had taken the Govt to the High Court was to buy it time to win DTI approval to operate an ombudsman scheme for the redress of HIP-related complaints against estate agents... a large constituent of its member-base.

Guess what!

No punch-line needed - See for yourself on the DTI page.

DEA Numbers?

No, strangely!
