Single-glazed window marked as double-glazed

Submitted by: MikeC (Admin) on 02-Apr-09 01:51:45 PM

According to a post on the Home Inspector Forum (HIF), a Domestic Energy Assessor “has been successfully sued for getting an EPC wrong.”

Apparently the homebuyer moved in to the property and discovered that the windows were not double-glazed, as stated on the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) , but single-glazed.

It’s claimed the homebuyer relied entirely on the EPC for this information and had they known, would not have proceeded with the purchase.

The DEA lost and must pay for double-glazing to be fitted.

Update: Just been informed this is true, see Confirmed: DEA is sued.

What a farce ..... did the buyer visit the property? If it was that important, they should have checked for themselves. It's a stitch up!
