500 staff in pay dispute

Submitted by: MikeC (Admin) on 03-Apr-08 11:45:47 AM

Around 500 Land Registry staff at the Rosebrae office in Birkenhead walked out at 10am yesterday to attend an offsite meeting held by the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) in protest over a below inflation pay offer.

After the one hour meeting members returned to their desks having agreed to work to rule.

The walk out is part of a wider dispute among the union's 6000 members who are objecting to below inflation pay increases whilst senior civil servants have been awarded significant pay deals, David Lunn, chairman of the Birkenhead Rosebrae Land Registry branch, told the Liverpool Daily Post.

Another Land Registry spokesman has said yesterdays action did not disrupt services to the general public.
