CLG issues Home Inspector training caution
Yep, seems the CLG whacked this page up yesterday.
Home inspector training requires a significant input of time and money. CLG would strongly advise any person considering a career as a home inspector to investigate the business opportunities within their area before committing themselves to a training course.
Minister breaks down EPC numbers
Housing minister, John Healey, wrote to Grant Shapps, providing an interesting breakdown of the EPCs lodged, by category, up to Oct 4th 2009:
(a) Owner Occupied 2,057,346 (b) Privately Rented 871,264 (c) Social Rented 390,811 In addition we estimate that there are 236,951 EPCs recorded for newly constructed dwellings, some of which may also fall into one of these categories.

FOI request reveals 878 Home Inspectors (12th Aug 2009)
Caught this by chance the other day:
As of 12 August 2009, the latest date for which information is available, the number of registered Home Inspectors was 878. The total number of Home Condition Reports (HCRs) lodged up to and including 12 August 2009, again the latest date for which figures are available, was 1,838
Stroma offer free DEC (DipDEC) training to DEAs and NDEAs
Stroma is offering free training to DEAs and NDEAs wishing to provide Display Energy Certificates for public buildings.
As far as I can see, the only catch is you must join (or be a current member of) Stroma; pledge to remain so for 12 months; and demonstrate you are conducting 15 DEA reports per month (5 NDEA reports).

NHER reduce DEC lodgement fee
We are pleased to announce that our fees for the registration of a DEC, a DEC and AR or AR only will be reduced to £10 (+£5.36 Landmark fee) + VAT.
