Performance Criteria
You must be able to:
- identify the risks to property that could occur in different locations, and take action to minimise or mitigate such risks
- obtain information on national legislation, guidelines and organisation procedures for the security of property
- apply correctly and consistently the relevant security procedures and guidelines for protecting property
- ensure security equipment is functioning properly
- ensure keys and access codes for properties are secured in appropriate locations
- take appropriate and effective emergency action when required
- pass on any suggestions for improving security to the responsible persons
Knowledge and Understanding
You must know and understand:
- the risks to offices, personal property, and properties for sale; action to take to minimise or mitigate risks
- relevant legislation and national guidelines relating to the security of property
- the organisation’s procedures relating to the security of property
- which procedures and guidelines apply in different circumstances
- what type of equipment could be used
- how should it be operated (g) the systems for securing and logging keys and access codes
- what types of emergency could occur
- what the emergency procedures are
- what types of suggestions for improving to the security could be made and who should be given them
