Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) accreditation schemes have different approaches to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) - or Lifelong Learning (LLL) - requirements.

Here, DEAs and CPD/LLL training providers alike, can hear (or read in the case of the shy!) the definitive CPD/LLL requirements of each accreditation scheme in one place.

I'd like to extend a big thanks to all participating accreditation schemes for their time and help in collectively clarifying a previously confusing topic amongst DEAs and CPD training providers.

It is important the appropriate DEAs, perform the appropriate CPD courses, from the appropriate training providers, if disputes are to be avoided in this first critical year of the industry.

this job if ever it was a job is getting less and less they are stating fewer epcs lodged month by month what do you expect they stand for ten years only a matter of time before there is no more to do FACT this is also a way of gathering info on household so as in the future they can tax them more IT was never going to be a career change get a grip and go back to drivin a taxi or any other real job THIS WAS NEVER REAL WORK

Once again I have had to jump through the bullshit CPD hoops set up in a poor and exploitative attempt to maintain "standards" in this travesty of an "industry". I have been accredited since 2007 and so have faced this charade three times. From my end the accreditation bodies operate as exploitative scammers employing bully tactics to force their overpriced bullshit "courses" on DEA's.
It occurred to me that genuine advert for this job should run along the lines of "Low self esteem? Like to be bullied, lied to, have your time, energy and money wasted, like to work hard to no avail and pay for it - become an Energy Assessor. Yes take this opportunity to pay thousands to be treated like shit."
If the CLG are genuinely concerned about standards perhaps they could insist on a minimum price per EPC to be paid to the assessor (third parties, panels etc, could charge what they like but the assessor to be paid a standard fee) rather than creating further pressure for the DEA by increasing the workload for which they are not paid.
Since joining this industry in august 2007 I have noticed how the shit flows downstream with hard pressed DEA's being required to accommodate further demands in increasingly difficult market conditions.
We are the ones who paid thousands to be trained, paid for the equipment necessary, passed the exams, produced the portfolios, paid for accreditation, paid the software fees, paid the land registry fees, advertised, made the visits and produced the EPC's often in the face of a reluctant and ill informed public. All this prior to being paid what is increasingly becoming a negligible sum (if we get paid at all).
Deceived by "training" agencies using government statistics to demonstrate the apparent need for assessors and thoroughly unsupported throughout, DEA's are regularly threatened with having their meagre livelihood cut off unless they jump through further quality assurance and CPD hoops. It is about time the CLG took a bit of responsibility for the situation it has been instrumental in creating and supported those who have invested their time, money and effort in the "industry".
