Straight talking with Quidos MD Philip Salaman

Submitted by: MikeC (Admin) on 18-Sep-08 12:50:38 PM

Quidos Managing Director, Philip Salaman, no longer needs any introduction to regular listeners of the podcast. Returning for the third time, he once again pulls no punches in telling us how it is.

Philip says he is looking forward to the results of a recent audit of accreditation schemes due to be published shortly. He is confident Quidos will come out clean but warns that some schemes are not doing enough to check the work of their members.

With some energy assessors migrating to schemes that do not view quality checking seriously, he is concerned about the competitive pressures this creates and the potential knock-on effects to industry standards.

The accreditor of accreditors

He is calling for an "accreditor of accreditors" to monitor accreditation schemes: an independent body to oversee the work of schemes in a dedicated manner the CLG is not resourced to do.

A booming market

Philip is remarkably upbeat about the new markets opening up in two weeks time. Display Energy Certificates are the current flavour of the week: he says Quidos are "receiving dozens of calls a day on DECs for local authorities and schools particularly", adding: "There's a lot of work out there".

He also says, "the rental market is booming".
