NES Conference speaker, author and Genersys Plc Chief Exec
Another educational podcast studying the wider issues of energy and climate change (with some financial crisis thrown in for added horror value).
Robert Kyriakides is more than a corporate (he is Chief Exec of Genersys Plc, a manufacturer and exporter of solar thermal systems), he is what I would term a vocational corporate activist - a philanthropic commercial trojan.
Few are as lucky in life.
He has much to say: he has authored 'The Energy Age', a comprehensive book detailing the serious issues of energy and the environment, and 'A Concise Guide to Energy in the United Kingdom'. He is also author of 'The Master Con Man: The True Adventures of Slippery Syd Gottfried'.
But if that wasn't enough, he writes daily on his personal blog (Robert Kyriakides Weblog), exploring many interesting topical angles to the energy and environment problems too (which I would highly recommend adding to your RSS reader).
If you're attending the NES conference in Birmingham on October 22nd & 23rd 2008, be sure to check him out on 'Strand 4 - New build', where he will be speaking in more depth about solar thermal technology (23rd Oct).
Listen: Robert Kyriakides: Solar Energy, Financial Cirsis & Climate Change
Show-notes
Robert shares his thoughts on Government strategy for dealing with the UK's energy predicament and we mull over the inability of free-markets and carbon trading systems to provide the solutions needed to steer us through the energy and environmental challenges... particularly against a backdrop of financial chaos.
How do solar panels convert light into heat and energy? (27 mins)
He also explains how solar thermal and solar photovoltaic systems actually work plus the benefits and savings each can provide - useful info for energy assessors talking to clients.
With thanks to Robert for his time.
Word of the day
Turmoil and prevalent.
