Ron Smith-Galer, Finance Officer
Update: HIPs are no longer and so is IPPA. This is left here for students of history - see bottom for more.
To ensure the concerns and ideas of independent Home Information Pack providers are recognised, a group of highly motivated individuals have quietly dedicated to building the 'indie HIP' into a trusted market sector, bringing together a pool of talents and resources to form a collective voice, with benefits.
That is the broad function of IPPA (Independent Pack Providers Association), which uniquely accepts only those applicants who provide a compliant Home Information Pack (HIP), before induction, to demonstrate a competence the public and industry can trust, it claims.
In this podcast, IPPA's Finance Officer explains all.
Listen: Independent Pack Providers Association (IPPA)
Show-notes
Is AHIPP hindering HIP industry?
Ron explains why AHIPP (Association of Home Information Pack Providers) has done a great job for its members but points out how their interests are often not reflective of the growing independent sector, arguing how they may even be detrimental to the progression of both EPCs and HIPs.
HIP compliance test - necessary barrier-to-entry
Insights into the HIP compliance test all new IPPA members must satisfy, defending the barrier-to-entry as good for both industry and members, and instilling confidence with the public.
Two world exclusives:
We go over this week's most recent industry news, theorising on Scottish and Southern Energy's plan to recruit 500 DEAs, plus two world exclusive announcements:
- BRE announce white label HIP and;
- Quidos announce free CPD for members of their accreditation scheme.
A big roll-call to the accreditation schemes for their contribution to the definitive CPD guide for DEAs and course providers too. Plus more (obviously).
Ron Smith-Galer is Managing Director of MyInspector Ltd which provides Home Information Packs, Energy Performance Certificates and Home Condition Reports in London.
Many thanks to Ron for partipating.
Update (for historical archival purposes): IPPA is no longer. In May 2010 HIPs were abolished by a newly elected Conservative-led, LibDem coalition Government; in keeping with the pledge made by the Conservative Party in its pre-election manifesto.
