The view from the street
The views and experiences from the frontline as told by real life DEAs and a Home Inspector (gasp!).
Listen: DEA Roundtable
Malcolm Scott of Mascot Property Services (HI and a member of SAVA's Compliance Team), Dan Walters of Hillview Property Assessments (DEA) and Chris Evans (DEA) - AKA Bosco - are this week's guests sharing their stories, frustrations and hopes, as experienced from the street.
A welcome change of emphasis from the corporate view of the HIP world in this podcast, including:
- Personal anecdotes
- Hazards of the job (watch out for those flying knives!)
- Interesting stats (80% of vendors pay upfront, so why do you wait to get paid?)
- Training Providers
- Late payers, redundancies and throwing-in the towel
- Predictions
- Laughs, howls and curses
... plus of course, much much more!
Many thanks to Dan, Malcom, Chris and Pam Duncanson for their time and effort in making this possible.
Show-notes
During the podcast Dan puts out a plea for DEA/HI's to sign two petitions created to encourage the Government to implement HIPs across the whole housing market and for EPC's to be implemented for the rental sector from Jan 08.
He also encourages everybody involved with the industry to write to their local MP to implore them to question Housing Minister, Yvette Cooper, about when full implementation will take place.
Training the DEA Training Providers
Companies marketing their training courses for Domestic Energy Assessors continue to make outrageous claims of high-demand work and earnings.
Chris wants both your stories and links from your website so the site can get into the top 10 Google search results for "DEA training courses" (or close variations thereof).
The site address is: deatrainingcourses.wordpress.com
Use this text in the link: DEA training or DEA training courses or Domestic Energy Assessor training course.
There's no point in putting any more people through this suffering - including yourself - so if you're fed up with it, get behind it.
