DECC & CLG: Big energy announcement tomorrow

By MikeC (Admin) on 11-Feb-09 16:32. Remarks (10)

Domestic Energy Assessors may need to upgrade their qualifications to partake in a major initiative expected to be announced tomorrow in a joint statement by the CLG and DECC. Both departments are set to declare a massive program of works to improve the energy efficiency (and reduce carbon emissions) of existing homes, according to The Guardian. But my digging suggests that the two new qualifications currently undergoing refinement - that of Housing Energy Adviser and Community Energy Adviser - may be where it's at for DEAs wishing to find more work.

By MikeC (Admin) on 30-Jan-09 01:03. Remarks (0)

If you have a propensity for apocalyptic thoughts, I wouldn't read this if I were you. Nothing directly related to Energy Performance Certificates (though the impact would be felt), so don't worry, you'll miss nothing. Anyway, the UK situ - it's really quite bad.

Institute of Domestic Energy Assessors Chairman Ignores Vote

By MikeC (Admin) on 27-Jan-09 18:04. Remarks (0)

It was all a bad dream! Mr Gillespie, chairman of Institute of Domestic Energy Assessors, has now claimed he had already rejected proposals to become a £40 EPC panel, meaning the poll members were asked to participate in (which came out in favour) was never going to count for anything, apparently! Unfortunately, credibility isn't so easy to dismiss.

By MikeC (Admin) on 16-Jan-09 15:29. Remarks (3)

David Cameron has now launched the Tories' Low-carbon economy green policy paper, and - as far as Energy Performance Certificates are concerned - it's quite frankly confused and in some parts, ambiguous. But the dumbest pledge is to introduce yet more competition into the market, with Corgi gas inspectors and utility companies mentioned as examples
